Kefa M. Otiso is a Professor of Geography at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, USA, and the founding and former President of the US-based Kenya Scholars and Studies Association (KESSA).
He is the author of two books and numerous refereed journal articles, book chapters, and editorials, with a sustained research interest in African immigration to the United States. In 2008, he was awarded the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) by the Republic of Kenya. Prof. Otiso is also a frequent media commentator, appearing on US, Kenyan, and other international news platforms, and actively volunteers in community initiatives.
As a member of the Chairperson of the VNEC, Prof. Otiso plans to:
1. Strengthen internal controls to safeguard members’ assets and uphold transparency.
2. Enhance member confidence through timely audits and clear financial reporting.
3. Work closely with management and the board to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
